Mod Guide for the Nerf Vortex Proton

In this mod guide I will show you how to modify the Nerf Vortex Proton. Although it has large ranges stock, you can still increase the range with this simple mod. First, unscrew the front barrel cover.

Then unscrew the rest of the gun.

Take out the three screws holding the disc propelling mechanism, then pull it out.

Take of the rubber piece with the spring.

Unscrew the silver spring securing screw.

Next, pull out the hammer pin. Move the spring’s end wire to the left, setting it in the mysteriously already there holder.(maybe Nerf wanted us to mod these guns?)

Put in the screw next to the spring, then Pull the hammer back into place, and reinsert the pin.

Push on the rubber cushion.

Put the whole assembly back into the gun and screw it down.

Screw the main casing back on and also the barrel tip.

That’s it your done. If you have any questions please comment.

i cant put the gun back together because of the spring and it broke other parts

I did this and the gun won’t shoot when i put it all together. It releases like it should but doesn’t actually shoot the disk out. Any ideas?

does increesing the power make it inacurrate?

    • No, increasing the power does not affect the accuracy at all. The increase is not huge, so it dosen’t mess any systems up. If you put in a really powerful spring, the gun might have problems.
